Roger Chong is one of my undergrad University buddies. While we studied within the same major we shared many visions of music, of expression, and I am very proud of him as he is one of the few artists I personally know that actually made multiple CD recording. Everyone should go check it out! We met since year one, but did not talked until the next year, as comically pointed out by Jimmy Cheung.
Can't pinpoint how this piece came to be, most likely it was one of those bus rides for us to return to each of our homes and I might just snagged his words—with his permission, of course. I hope. This is also one of those few ventures into such a foreign style that be frank with all of yous, I don't have the slightest clue about. put a bunch of 7th chords flat9thflat5s too, why not. Reminds me of Prisencolinensinainciusol where I definitely tried to write this to mimic the way jazz/blues sounds to me, a non-jazz/blues musician.
Those are great times.
Now this is a gem: I have long toyed with various tools of virtualization, while instrumental sounds and samples have made great progress we still yet to crack the vocal proverbial nut; this is LEON that you can use within vocaloid2 software; I vaguely remember the frustration that comes with how I have consistently failed to make Leon sound "natural"—to the point that I assumed its most likely easier to sing the part myself, or alternatively pay a professional vocalist to do it. But this song is not really worth all that effort, you know? lols.
