This is the 7 part cantata for Christmas, work started the year before and while my verdict about the whole endeavour remains mixed I still am thankful that the church and all who participated in it let me experiment with them like lab mice—I don’t think I can ask for more.
On the other hand, I shouldn’t really agree to write for them in the first place because in the end as far as compromise goes my ideas are truncated and dismembered beyond recognition—albeit their very best, an overall commendable effort, it is still an abject failure. And thus the responsibility lies on me.
Never again—until I know how to properly balance standing my ground of artistic license, and being faithful to my muse, versus maximizing participant involvement and resources available. In 7 movements, for mixed voice (SATB) with piano accompaniment:
1 Come, Thou long-expected Jesus
2 My soul magnifies the Lord (MAGNIFICAT)
3 I am so glad
4 Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne
5 Hark! the Herald Angels Sing
6 Who is on the Lord’s side?
7 A Great and Mighty Wonder
I will put up some new tracks when I get to it, one day lol
Wonderful help from everyone, of course notwithstanding my lackluster creation. that cover design is very pretty!
